Learning SEO is one of the best ways to generate traffic for your blog without spending a ton of money. Having your content optimised for organic search will make it easier for potential readers to discover your blog through search engines and with time and effort, you’ll start to see a dramatic increase in the amount of visitors your site gets. To save you time, I’ve put together a list of my favourite SEO blogs.
There are a number of blogs out there, that write about SEO and all the latest happenings with Google updates etc. Here’s some of my favourite blogs, that I would recommend you bookmark and read a couple of times a week:
List of SEO Blogs
Moz is arguably the largest SEO portal on the web. Founded by Rand Fishkin and Gillian Muessig in 2004, Moz offers a subscription-based service that lets you track keyword rankings, links to your site and other metrics related to SEO. However, one of the best resources that Moz offers is their blog. The Moz blog features op-eds and advice on how to promote your content online. Every week they post a new Whiteboard Friday video, where Rand talks about creating a content strategy and delves further into the technical side of SEO. They also offer training guides for SEO and content marketing newbies that will give you some good ideas of how to generate more traffic to your site.
2. Search Engine Roundtable
Search Engine Roundtable is one of the most popular SEO blogs and is run by Barry Schwartz. The site is updated several times a day with the latest news about algorithm updates and trends from the Webmaster Forums. Barry tends to be one of the first bloggers to break stories on new Google algorithm updates and is not afraid to voice his opinion.
3. Search Engine Land
Search Engine Land is another major SEO blog. They have grown to cover more than just Google updates and best practice. The site covers social and app indexing algorithms and is a good resource for those wanting to learn more about the technical intricacies behind SEO.
Hubspot is one of the largest inbound-marketing software companies. They also happen to run an excellent blog filled with advice on how to better market your content. The Hubspot blog is divided into three sections: Marketing, Sales and Agency. For the average blogger, you might be most interested in following the Marketing blog, however you can also learn a lot about promoting your content by looking at the other two blog categories.
My final pick, but definitely not the least deserving, is the Econsultancy blog. The Econsultancy blog is regularly updated with the latest news around digital marketing. More than just a blog, they also produce lists of the top 100 digital agencies every year. Most of their posts are about what major brands are doing, which is interesting if you are looking to market a product on your blog. If you want to learn more about current digital marketing trends, the Econsultancy blog is a great place to start.
These are some of the SEO blogs I regularly read to keep updated with the latest SEO news. What are some of your favourite blogs to read? Let me know in the comments below.
